Disappointed with the performance of their Culligan water softener that was only 18 months old, these homeowners turned to Easton’s Water.
The cartridge type filter the previous dealer had installed ahead of the softener was sized too small and could only remove iron in particle form. The filter filled quickly with rust resulting in loss of water pressure. This pressure drop was not only annoying when trying to use water, but it also kept the softener from properly regenerating. This resulted in iron stains on fixtures, scaling in pipes, filming on dishes, extra use of cleansers, and excessive softener salt consumption. The homeowners were able eliminate to all these water treatment issues with equipment from Easton’s Water.
The homeowners near Waukon, IA needed a flow rate adequate to operate multiple water faucets and water using appliances at the same time as they were filling their large hot tub. This was accomplished by using two Hellenbrand ProMate 6.0 Iron Curtain Junior Water Filters requiring no chemical treatment with chlorine or other harsh chemicals such as potassium permanganate or hydrogen peroxide. These units convert iron to a form that can be filtered out as the water flows through the multiple layers of material within the equipment.
The filters are followed by a Hellenbrand ProMate 6.5 Water Softener. This unit is designed to allow a higher flow rate with minimal pressure loss. This softener joins meter demand technology with upflow brining to achieve the industry maximum softening efficiency per pound of regeneration salt.
Salt usage is less than half that of the previous Culligan metered unit. Owners also enjoy the lower household costs for soaps and detergents and the life extending benefits to water using appliances.
